There are many ways you can make money on the Internet. One exciting option is to build a website. "How can I build a website?", I hear you say, well, yes you can with a bit of effort.

These days there are all sorts of sites that you can get help from. There are free tutorial sites where you can learn web programming languages such as HTML and Javascript. In fact,you don't really have to hand code your site, there are applications to help you, even build it for you, such as WordPress, which is a great blogging tool. I personally prefer to do all my own coding and design, as it allows for greater flexibility and I am the type of person who likes to understand things in depth rather than let an application do it for me. However, if you want to just start a simple site, a blog, or even a basic page with a few links, its not that hard!

Remember, if you want to be financially independent you need to start educating yourself, learning new skills and generating residual income, no matter how small. Even if you only make £5 a month from your website at least it pays a few phone calls or a bit of electric, furthermore that £5 a month has the potential to grow into £50 a month even £500 a month with a little effort. Imagine that :)

Besides selling products, you can make money by selling advertising to people who want traffic sent to their web site from yours. Affiliations are one of the little known methods of making money through the internet. The trick is learning to generate traffic, funnelling it to your merchant. It has made more millionaires than you'd believe!

A few years ago it was as simple as setting up a basic webpage and slapping on loads of adds. A fantastic example of affiliate marketing is milliondollarhomepage. The owner of this site made so much money simply through hosting a page of adverts. How easy is that! Today the competition on the internet is immense. Your site needs to mean something or people will go to the next more interesting site. The days of hosting a page of adds and making millions are pretty much gone. For a start search engines won't like you, but that's another story for later chapters.

There are literally hundreds of affiliate programs available to choose from. One of the easiest ways to manage your affiliations, is to sign up with a FREE scheme such as Affiliate Future, which will processes and manage a host of affiliates for you and credit your account with the relevant amount of commission. You sign up, search for products or services relevant to your sites readers and then simply add the adverts to your site to start making money.

Of course you don't have to go through a site like Affiliate Future, you can go direct to an advertiser and sign up for individual affiliate programs. If a site offers an affiliation option it is usually a link at the very bottom of the page. For example, one of most famous affiliate program is www.amazon.co.uk were you can find and add attractive banners specific to your content based on your key words, or even simple text links to the site.

Advertising

Banner advertising programs pay you from a few pence for each click on their banner, to a large commission for the sale of their product or service. Google Adsense is a very popular pay per click advertising tool. Some website owners make thousands of pounds a month from Adsense. Further examples are BidVertiser who give you free money too just for joining up or AdBrite which again similar to Google Adsense and is just as easy to use, but to be honest I prefer AdBrite as it allows advertisers to easily target their website for advertising.

AuctionAds is a newcomer to the game, but it is showing a lot of potential, and many website owners are generating significant earnings with it. AuctionAds allows you to display eBay auctions on your website based on keywords that you specify. Anytime someone wins one of those auctions you collect a commission. AuctionAds is completely free and very easy to implement.

You should aim for a good combination of pay per click adverts and commission on sale adverts such as book sales for Amazon.

Earning money might take a few weeks, even months. It can take time before you start getting traffic to your website and making money. Use this time to learn more about making your site better, and make it better. Making money with a website is not a get-rich scheme, and it takes hard work, dedication and patience, but the payoff can be well worth it and its very rewarding and great fun as I am finding out.
